Fly Killers attract flying insects to a light source (usually a fluorescent lamp) and then delivers a fatal amount of electric current that kills and instantly dries the insect. Flykillers are housed in a plastic or grounded metal cage frame, with an insect-attractive ultraviolet light source contained and surrounded by electrically charged wires or grids. The insect does not need to touch both wires as an electric arc will occur when the insect passes near by. Flykillers are equipped with shallow trays that collect the remains of the electrocuted insects.
