Champagne Glasses for sparkling wines are available in many different shapes and designs, from flutes to saucer type styles. A tall tulip shaped champagne flute is recommended by most wine experts mainly due to the small mouthed opening and tall shape of the glass, which slows down the movement of the bubbles this allows your more expensive champagnes to retain their effervesance for a longer period of time. Most champagne glasses will typically range in capacity from five and a half ounces up to eight ounces. If you regularly enjoy sparkling wines or are celebrating a special occasion (such as a wedding or anniversary) then having the right champagne glasses is a must. Choosing the correct glass for you ultimately comes down to personal choice but, with the many different ranges available it helps to bear the following points in mind: a crystal glass (which is more expensive but looks nicer and sparkles) is no weaker or stronger than a standard champagne glass.
Glasses that hold the liquid in the stem will suffer from increased warming due to body heat being transferred through holding the glass in your hand. A good sparkling wine or champagne should always be served chilled and the best way to achieve this is to place the bottle into a champagne bucket or cooler filled with ice (please see our champagne bucket section) always tilt your champagne glass when pouring to prevent a build up of froth or head within the glass and never pour to quickly.
