What Vegware Offers

Vegware has an award-winning range of plant-based compostable products for every foodservice need.

Our portfolio includes hot and cold cups, cutlery, straws, plates, bowls, takeaway boxes, sushi trays, sandwich and salad containers, napkins and even compostable bin bags – over 500 products in total. 

All products are made from renewable or recycled materials such as sustainably sourced paper, sugarcane, wood pulp and palm leaves and are designed for commercial composting with food waste where accepted.

Beyond product supply, Vegware offers environmental consultancy to help customers implement effective composting and recycling solutions.

Our “Close the Loop” service includes trade composting collections and tailored waste management advice to support businesses on their sustainability journey.

Vegware also supports community and environmental projects through our Community Fund, reflecting our wider commitment to sustainability.

Vegware History

Vegware was founded in 2006 by Joe Frankel who was inspired by eco-friendly packaging innovations in California. From our Edinburgh HQ, we became the UK’s first provider of a full range of compostable catering disposables in 2011.

We have consistently invested in research and development to ensure all products meet the highest compostability standards and can be composted with food waste.

Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have shown resilience and adaptability and have continued to grow and expand our product lines and services.

In recent years we were acquired by Novolex, a major US packaging group, which has enabled us to expand our global distribution and waste management initiatives while retaining the Vegware brand.

Vegware is present in over 70 countries with strong distribution in the UK, Europe, Middle East, US, South America and the Caribbean.

We have operational bases in the UK, USA, Australia and Hong Kong and partner with leading contract caterers and distributors worldwide.

Vegware is a leader in sustainability and has multiple certifications and awards including the Queen’s Award for Enterprise and B Corporation certification.
